As someone who was a member of American Atheists are one point and went to their conventions, I’m sure [ex-]Hasidic Jews will feel totally welcome amongst a bunch of rich white neckbeards who clap whenever someone makes a haughty joke about how pathetic religious people are. That’s all their conventions are, too - “lololol atheists r cool religious people r so stupid!!” for THREE DAYS. Eventually you get bored and go to museums or a fast food place… anywhere away from Richard Dawkins so you don’t have to see him wandering the hall in his pajamas or at the bar at 1am boozing.
ANYWAY, I let this go to a CERTAIN extent considering AA is now organized and ran by predominately Jewish people but at the same time I am still pretty rage-y. I hate the phrasing on the sign and the abuse of Hebrew in predominately Yiddish speaking communities is further proof they don’t really care about reaching out insomuch as gaining members for their organization.
I miss the American Atheists when it was manned by Ellen Johnson. She was definitely “in your face” atheism but she was a hell of a lot more respectful and tactful about issues like these v. Silverman and his lot. She was basically chased out, though, sadly.
In short: Hasids who want to get out of that lifestyle and don’t know how? Footsteps. Always Footsteps. Malkie gets it. Why? Because Malkie’s been there and so have all the other volunteers. It makes a lot of difference compared to, say, American Atheists which as an organization doesn’t have any experience in this department.

Illinois Congressional Candidate: “Holocaust Never Happened”
Arthur Jones is running for the Republican nomination in Illinois’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes Chicago’s South Side, to take on the Democratic incumbent, Congressman Dan Lipinski.
As it turns out, Jones believes the Holocaust was invented for monetary purposes by the Jews.
“As far as I’m concerned, the Holocaust is nothing more than an international extortion racket by the Jews,” Jones said. “It’s the blackest lie in history. Millions of dollars are being made by Jews telling this tale of woe and misfortune in books, movies, plays and TV.
